General Motors has confirmed that the Chevrolet Bolt will return, reversing its discontinuation plan to leverage the popular nameplate with next-generation Ultium battery technology. This decision, announced by GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra, signals a strategic pivot to capitalize on the Bolt's unique position as an affordable electric vehicle (EV) with proven market appeal. For consumers, this means the prospect of a more advanced, efficient, and accessible EV arriving sooner than a completely new model.
The announcement marks a significant reversal from just three months prior when GM stated it would discontinue the Bolt EV and larger Bolt EUV to free up factory capacity for its next-generation EVs.
